Co-op Update — Weeks of 12/10 and 12/17

Happenings from Co-op:
  • Week of 12/10-12/14:  Low-key week.  Health class begins during integrated block.  We’ll just be planning for our athletic day, conducting an acknowledgment council, and we have another round of 5th graders to host for Open Enrollment.
  • Tuesday, December 18th — Rubrics from Integrated classes will be shared home.
  • Thursday, December 20th — We are seeing Cirque Eloize at the DCPA.  Students should plan on dressing up for the event.  Students also need a sack lunch.
  • Friday, December 21st — Athletic Day.  Students will either be skiing, bowling, or going to the Apex Rec Center (ice skating/swimming) on that day.  (We’ll let them know by Tuesday the 11th.)  Students should dress accordingly for their trip.  Skiers/Snowboarders need to bring in $40 to Ms. Rundell for lift tickets unless they already have a pass for Loveland Ski Area.  There are also special departure and return times for that trip (7:30am-4:30pm).  All other students have normal school hours on Friday the 21st.  We’ll be gathering with students on Monday or Tuesday to let them know their destination and logistics.  (Students will need a sack lunch regardless.)
  • Tuesday, January 8th:  Classes resume.  If your student had Social Studies in the fall, they will have science and vice-versa.
  • January 28th-February 1st:  Mid-year conferences. if you are ready to sign up, here’s the sign up sheet.
Thank you so much for all your support and the opportunity to work with your students.  Have a wonderful holiday break! -JF

LA Update — Week of 12/10 and 12/17 — Coffeehouse on Wednesday!

Our Coffeehouse Reading is on Wednesday.  I’m so proud of all the readers and I am excited to celebrate their accomplishments with you.  Again, students should plan on arriving 10 minutes before their class’s performance.  We will start promptly.  The details:
Paul’s Coffee and Tea
956 W. Cherry Street (East side of McCaslin Blvd) in Louisville.
Block 1 will be reading at 5pm
Block 2 will be reading at 6pm
Thank you so much for your support.  If something comes up and your student is NOT planning to attend, please email me right away.  They are introducing one another and that info will be very helpful for the other students participating.
If your student needs any help with their blurb or their reading, please have them come see me.  I’m more than happy to give them some extra practice before school/during lunch/after school so they feel more comfortable at the reading.
Upcoming due dates:
  • Every day: Read 30 minutes (including winter break!)
  • Monday:  Final Draft of Blurb due
  • Tuesday:  Program Cover due
  • Wednesday 12/12:  Coffeehouse Reading (Don’t forget your excerpt!)
  • Wednesday 12/19:  PSR Signed off along with story in Portfolio.
  • Tuesday 1/8:  Bring favorite book to class.  Students should plan on bringing their favorite book from the past six months to class on that day as we are going to be starting a personalized video book review project (more details on that later).
This will be the last update of 2018, although I will send a copy of the coffeehouse program to you as soon as it is complete (Tuesday night/Wednesday morning).
Thank you for all your support.  Have a wonderful holiday break.
Best,
Josh Feiger
